Role Of A Graphic Design

-HISTORY 

THE STORY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN IS A COMPREHENSIVE ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHIC STYLES IN THE WEST FROM THE ORIGINS OF THE ALPHABET ITSELF THROUGH THE INVENTION OF PRINTING IN THE RENAISSANCE AND THE SUBSEQUENT MAJOR STYLES ( WITH EMPHASIS ON THE NINETEENTH AND TWENTIETH CENTURIES ) TO THE RECENT IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ON DESIGN . THIS AUTHORITATIVE HISTORY PLACES MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL , CULTURAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE AND AT THE SAME TIME EXPOSES THE READER TO A COMPREHENSIVE SELECTION OF THE GREATEST WORK BY BOOK MAKERS AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER SINCE THE INVENTION OF WRITING .

- Logos

  • Recognizable and distinctive graphic design, stylized name, unique symbol, or other device for identifying an organization. It is affixed, included, or printed on all advertising, buildings, communications, literature, products, stationery, and vehicles. Not to be confused with a brand, which identifies a product or family of products. Also called logotype.








- SYMBOL

  • Mark, sign, or word that indicates, signifies, or is understood as representing an idea, object, or relationship. Symbols allow people to go beyond what is known or seen by creating linkages between otherwise very different concepts and experiences. All communication (and data processing) is achieved though the use of symbols.




-WEBSITE

  • Virtual location on WWW, containing several subject or company related webpages and data files accessible through a browser. Each website has its own unique web address (see uniform resource locator) which can be reached through an internet connection. The opening page of a website is usually called homepage which contains hyperlinks to other pages on the same or other site(s). A single web server may support multiple websites and a single website may reside on multiple web servers, sometimes thousands of miles apart .





-CORPORATE STATIONERY


  • Office supplies (specially paper and envelopes) used for writing, typing, or printing. Not to be confused with 'stationary' which means not moving or having a fixed position.




- ADVERTISEMENTS

  • Advertising is the paid, impersonal, one-way marketing of persuasive information from an identified sponsor disseminated through channels of mass communication to promote the adoption of goods, services or ideas.









-BOOK DESIGN


  • Book design is the art of incorporating the content , style , format , design , and sequence of the various components of a book into a coherent whole.







- BROCHURES


  • A brochure or pamphlet is a leaflet advertisement. Brochures may advertise locations, events, hotels, products, services, etc. They are usually succinct in language and eye-catching in design. Direct mail and trade shows are common ways to distribute brochures to introduce a product or service. In hotels and other places that tourists frequent, brochure racks or stands may suggest visits to amusement parks and other points of interest. The two most common brochure styles are single sheet and booklet forms. The most common types of single-sheet brochures are the bi-fold (a single sheet printed on both sides and folded into halves) and the tri-fold (the same, but folded into thirds). A bi-fold brochure results in four panels (two panels on each side), while a tri-fold results in six panels (three panels on each side). 





-BILLBOARDS

  • Billboards are advertisements that provide information to passing vehicles and pedestrians. These large format out of home advertising structures, typically found in high traffic areas and are viewed at distances of 50 feet or more. There are a few types of billboards and their sizes usually depend on the speed of traffic and distance from the person viewing it. A billboard on a highway or expressway is commonly called a bulletin. A billboard on a secondary roadway where traffic is 30 mph - 50 mph is commonly called a poster. A poster is usually about half of the width of a bulletin. Wallscapes are very large format displays that can be see from many streets because of their large size. They are usually landmark locations in a metro area. These are also viewed by pedestrian traffic as well as vehicles. Digital billboards also come in different sizes depending on their audience and traffic. On expressways or highways they are usually the same size as the bulletin. On secondary street or neighborhood roadways they can be the size of posters. Their size also depends on the speed of traffic and the proximity to the roadway.






-PRODUCT PACKAGING
  • Packaging serves different functions for products. Packaging serves a practical purpose of helping to store, handle, transport and display the product. Packaging also provides a means to market products. Finally, packaging also involves bundling, which is packaging related products together.





- POSTER 


  • The author of a message on a Usenet newsgroup. It is the responsibility of the poster to ensure that the authored posts are on topic to the newsgroup in which they are posting in. The poster will also be responsible for ensuring that the posts made are free from spam and adds value to the topic the Usenet newsgroup is about. The reference to a poster can only be a positive. Otherwise, if the poster does not follow the practice and guidelines of the newsgroup moderator, they, as well as the posts are considered to be a spammer or abuser. A poster is one who is known to contribute to the newsgroup as opposed to a reader or lecher.





- GREETING CARD 


  • A greeting cards is generally a simple document a piece of folded paper with text or image on the front and a massage inside . Although there are variation , greeting cards generally follow a typical layout . Folded on the side or the top , there's a front , an inside spread and a back .

- SHAPE


  • SHAPE PERTAINS TO THE USE OF AREAS IN TWO - DIMENSIONAL SPACE THAT CAN BE DEFINED BY EDGES . SHAPES CAN BE GEOMETRIC ( SQUARE , CIRCLE , HEXAGON ) ORGANIC ( SUCH AS THE SHAPE OF A PUDDLE , BLOB , LEAF , BOOMERANG )  








-LINE


  • LINE IS THE MOST BASIC DESIGN 'TOOL' . A LINE HAS LENGTH , WIDTH , TONE , AND TEXTURE . IT MAY DIVIDE SPACE , DEFINE A FORM , DESCRIBE CONTOUR , SUGGEST DIRECTION .










- COLOR

  • COLOR IS THE ELEMENT OF ART THAT IS PRODUCED WHEN LIGHT , STRIKING AN OBJECT , IS REFLECTED BACK TO THE EYE . THERE ARE THREE PROPERTIES TO COLOR .  THE FIRST IS HUE , WHICH SIMPLY MEANS THE NAME WE GIVE TO A COLOR ( RED , YELLOW , BLUE )









- TEXTURE

  • THE SURFACE OF ANY VISIBLE OBJECT IS TEXTURED AT CERTAIN SCALE . A WEALTH OF TEXTURES ARE OBSERVED ON BOTH ARTIFICIAL AND NATURAL OBJECTS SUCH AS THOSE ON WOOD , PLANTS , MATERIALS AND SKIN . IN A GENERAL SENSE , THE WORD TEXTURE REFERS TO SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS AND  APPEARANCE OF AN OBJECT GIVEN BY THE SIZE , SHAPE , DENSITY , ARRANGEMENT , PROPORTION OF ITS ELEMENTARY PARTS . A TEXTURE IS USUALLY DESCRIBED AS SMOOTH OR ROUGH , SOFT , OR HARD , COARSE OF FINE , GLOSSY .






- TYPO / TYPE

  • TYPOGRAPHY IS QUITE SIMPLY THE ART AND TECHNIQUE OF ARRANGING TYPE . IT ' S CENTRAL TO THE WORK AND SKILLS OF A DESIGNER AND IS ABOUT MUCH MORE THAT MAKING THE WORDS LEGIBLE .   








- ART , PHOTOGRAPHY AND ILLUSTRATION


  • ILLUSTRATION IS A UNIQUE ART FORM THAT IS DEFINED NOT BY ITS MEDIUM , BUT BY ITS CONTEXT . ILLUSTRATION FINDS ITS HOME IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE OF POPULAR MEDIA . WITH A RICH HISTORY AND A MODERN , CONTEMPORARY OUTLOOK , ILLUSTRATION BRINGS LIFE TO CONCEPTS AND STORIES THROUGH IMAGE - MAKING . WHETHER CREATED DIGITALLY OR BY HAND , AN ILLUSTRATION CAN BE BOTH A MASTERFUL WORK OF ART AND A PRACTICAL BUSINESS APPLICATION .

BORN IN 1955 , ZAKII IS KNOW TO HAVE PRODUCED ONE OF THE MOST ENGAGING , REALISTIC AND DESIRED FINE ART NOT ONLY IN MALAYSIA BUT THROUGHOUT THE REGION AS WELL AS IN OTHER CONTINENTS . YONG MUN SEN ( B. 1896 - 1962 ) . BORN YONG YEN LANG IN KUCHING , SARAWAK . HE CHANGED HIS NAME TO YONG MUN SEN IN 1922 . HE IS KNOWN AS THE FATHER OF MALAYSIAN PAINTING . ALTHOUGH TRAINED IN FORMAL CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING AND CALLIGRAPHY IN KWANGTUNG , CHINA , AS AN ARTIST , HE IS ATTRACTED TO THE IS ATTRACTED TO THE WATER PAINT AND OIL LATER . HE SETTLED IN PENANG IN 1922 WHERE HE HAS HIS OWN ART STUDIO IN PENANG ROAD AND THEN THE NORTHAM ROAD . YONG MUN SEN IS FAMOUS FOR ITS LANDSCAPE WATER PAINT INCORPORATED THE INFLUENCE OF CHINESE ART TO PRODUCE A COMPOSITION MORE AIRY AND GENERAL RAFTER THAN IN A MORE DETAIL OR FACT . AFTER HIS DEATH IN 1962 , HIS WORK MAINTAIN A VITAL AND RESPECTED IN MALAYSIA . HE HAS TWO DESCENDANTS WHO FOLLOW HIS FOOTSTEPS AND KHENG , CHENG WAH WAH . BOTH ARE WELL ESTABLISHED ARTISTS IN THE MEDIUM OF THEIR OWN . AROUND 1936 ,SOME ARTISTS PENANG FOUND EACH OTHER AND DECIDED TO FORM THE PENANG CHINESE ART CLUB , WITH MUN SEN AS VICE PRESIDENT . HE HE BECAME PRESIDENT THE FOLLOWING YEAR . WITH THE ADVENT OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR IN 1939 , PENANG CHINESE ART CLUB DISSOLVED WILL NOT BE RENEWED AGAIN . PERIOD OF THE JAPANESE OCCUPATION OF MALAYA FROM 1941 TO 1945 IS THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PERIOD OF HIS LIFE . HE WAS SHIFTED TO AGRICULTURE TO SURVIVE .
